FATUM started in 1882 as an agency of a Dutch Insurance company, the Nederlanden van 1845. In 1981 the agency was transformed into a company under Surinamese law named FATUM Schadeverzekering N.V. FATUM is a leading provider of property and life insurance products as well as investment products. After nearly 131 years in business, FATUM is known for its financial strength and stability, superior customer service, and continued operational excellence.

FATUM is the first and the eldest insurance company in Surinam. We are proud to be the first insurance company in Surinam to join the UNEP Financial Initiative principles for sustainable insurance.
