Ethias is a Belgian insurance company established in 1919, based on the mutualistic philosophy. Over the years it has expanded its activities all over the country to become the third largest Belgian insurer. It is specialized in both life and property & casualty insurance for the B to B and B to C sectors. Its shareholders are mainly public entities, being the Belgian Federal Government, the Regions of Wallonia and Flanders and EthiasCo. Ethias is a signatory member of the UN Global Compact since 2014 (with a renewed signatory in 2018 after a failure to report in 2017) and a signatory member of the UNPRI since 2020. Ethias is a recognized player in the Belgian community, appreciated for its strong human-centric approach. Its corporate purpose is “Daring to be human together”. This, combined with its state-owned shareholding, makes it strive to lead by example.
