Mr. Geiger is directing the Sustainability Department at the DEG, the German Development Financial Institution based Cologne, Germany since June 2012. The Sustainability Department comprises 10 staff with various professional backgrounds and expertise. He has previously worked since 2001 for more than 10 years for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Germany and the Mekong region in various functions on freshwater, forests, sustainable development in China, agricultural commodities, and private sector finance. He has extensive international experience  in working with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) in Vietnam, Sao Tomé and Madagascar from 1993 till 2001. His professional studies are in forest management and rural development.
