WWF-Russia is organizing a conference “Promotion of Sustainable Finance Mechanisms in Russia” with the financial support of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Federal Agency for the Environment (Umweltbundesamt/UBA) under the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). Venue: Marriott Grand Hotel, Moscow, Tverskaya st., 26/1. Collaboration: Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, Equator Principles Outreach Group for Russia and UNEP Finance Initiative Conference objective: Raising informational awareness about the potential benefits for Russian financial institutions that result from signing international voluntary sustainability guidelines, such as the Equator Principles and UN Principles for Responsible Investment, with the use of relevant experience of financial institutions from the BRICS countries. Conference participants will be presented with the findings of the study on the lending activities’ environmental impact in Russia. The study has been carried out by WWF and a group of reputable international experts. The conference agenda also includes two thematic workshops and provides the platform for the comprehensive dialogue between the representatives of the State authorities, Russian financial institutions, international multilateral organizations (EBRD and IFC), regulators and ecologists Conference invitees:
