Banks play a critical role in advancing the financial well-being of the individuals, businesses, and communities they serve. By focusing on Financial Health and Inclusion, they not only foster greater customer loyalty and product engagement but also contribute meaningfully to poverty reduction and the creation of healthier, more inclusive economies. Our regional implementation programme is designed to help PRB signatory banks build robust strategies, set impactful targets, and implement informed actions that drive progress in financial well-being and inclusion. Through a structured series of online workshops, optional exercises, and tailored support, we equip banks with the tools needed to drive the transition towards healthy and inclusive economies.

The PRB Financial Health and Inclusion Target Setting Guidance creates common definitions for Financial Health and Inclusion, proposes a Pathway to Impact, and offers standard indicators and methodologies for strategy development and implementation. It provides financial institutions with practical tools to set impactful targets and create robust strategies to promote financial well-being, and tailor action plans to meet the unique needs of individuals and businesses, ultimately contributing to poverty alleviation and the creation of healthier, more inclusive economies. There is currently an opportunity to get involved with UNEP FI’s financial health and inclusion work:

  • PRB Financial Health & Inclusion Working Group: The Working Group created in 2021 the Guidance on Financial Inclusion and Financial health Target Setting. This year, the Group updated it to its second edition. The Guidance supports signatory banks in their efforts to set targets in line with the requirements of the PRB. Using this guidance, banks can understand how to align their core business with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
